Let me start by saying "Hello" and I am so happy to be part of your yoga journey. My name is Megan Leigh, I have been practicing yoga for over 17 years and have been teaching since 2016. I was driven to teach yoga because I wanted to show that there is more to yoga then just fancy and complicated looking poses, but how your body, mind, and spirit all work as one to achieve a goal.

I really fell in love with yoga in 2015 (I know I said I have been practicing for over 17 years). I did not start out loving yoga or even getting it.  I could never match my breath with the instructors, I was a very "reactive" student. At the time I did yoga for the exercise aspect (later I realized my breath did matter).

Then in the middle of a yoga class while I was in Warrior lll, something clicked. I knew then yoga was for me. I started to explore all aspects of yoga and what besides the physical aspect does it help. I completed my Yoga Instructor Certification, and it has not stopped there. Being someone who has PTSD, I started to explore the healing aspects that yoga has on the mind and spirit, this lead me to the path I am on now. Knowing that yoga can help you be present, meaning the past has already happened and cannot be changed, and the future is not even here yet, so why worry. With my own journey through healing with yoga, I dove right in. Since I have attained certification in PTSD/Trauma Yoga, Advanced Yoga, Yoga for Children, 12 Step Recovery Yoga, and Holistic Nutritional Counselor and most recently became a Certified Yoga Therapist. Recently completed certification as a Compassion Fatigue Therapist. I am not saying yoga is the answer to everything, but it might help you along your way. I like to explore the unexplored and try new things. I love using modifications and props because everyone is different. Unknown Yogi has been in the Fox Valley since 2016, serving the community one class at a time.

We are not your traditional yoga studio. Located in the Heart of the Valley. Our goal is to help those with their journey of over wellness and health of their mind, body, and spirit. When I am not at the studio, I am spending time with my family enjoying the outdoors and many adventures! If you have any questions at all through your yoga journey, feel free to contact me!

Blessed Be,

Megan Leigh

Meet Our Team!

Caitlin: The Feathered Yogi

Fred: The Mindful Warrior

Caitlin found her love of yoga in her early 20s, and has been an active yogi ever since.    She dove deeper into yoga for several years at Unknown Yogi after becoming close friends with owner Megan Leigh.  She earned her 200 Hour RYT at Yoga Renew, and learned much from Megan Leigh herself.  Caitlin spent some time guest teaching and learning at Kind Soul Yoga in Door County and enjoys teaching a monthly relaxing class at Anchored Roots Vineyard and Winery during the summer.  As an independent yogi, Caitlin operates under the name Feathered Yogi.

Caitlin actively assists in the Trauma and Recovery Yoga class at Unknown Yogi, which provides a safe space for students to practice.  Mental health is very important to Caitlin, and she strives to provide a safe space and an ear to anyone in and outside of yoga classes.  Caitlin also offers other classes at Unknown Yogi and participates in many activities associated with the studio.

Outside of yoga, Caitlin enjoys her other work as an Emergency Certified Veterinary Technician.  She loves animals of all kinds, music, painting, writing, and hiking.  In particular, Caitlin is often found inseparable from her beloved umbrella cockatoo, Jaspar.

I've always liked to be active. I've tried and enjoyed many activities from strength training to triathlons. Eventually this led me to yoga. Yoga has taught me that there is more to being healthy than just being active. It guides us in how to care for our entire being, from being active to also being still. I decided to become a yoga teacher to try and help anyone learn how to create a health span that is equal to their lifespan.
